Trevor James Smith, born on May 20, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York, better known as Busta Rhymes, is an actor and hip hop singer and brother of Brodie Edwards (known as Busta Rhymes the 2nd). The nickname comes from the former NFL player George "Buster" Rhymes.
Jamaican descent, Busta Rhymes grew up in Uniondale, New York. At age 12 his family moved to Long Island, where he would meet other Mc's growing community of hip hop in New York.
In the same year he released The Imperial as part of the Flipmode Squad, a collaborative project with rappers Rampage, Lord Have Mercy, Spliff Star, Rah Digga and Baby Sham. Rhymes's fascination with the cinema is reflected in Extinction Level Event (The Final World Front), released in 1998. The frantic single "Gimme Some More" reached number five on the British charts in January 1999. The song "What's It Gonna Be?! ', A duet with Janet Jackson, reached the top 10 American and British. Rhymes has combined his musical career with some papers actor. In 2000 he worked on several film projects (including the new version of Shaft) and recorded his last album with Elektra, Anarchy.
After leaving Elektra, Rhymes signed to J Records, a new label founded by Clive Davis (former founder of Arista Records). In 2001, he released a hit album with a new album with original work entitled Genesis. Genesis marked the return of Busta Rhymes, with hits like "Break Ya Neck" and "Pass the Courvoisier" produced by hip-hop producer Dr. Dre and The Neptunes, respectively. On November 26, 2002, Busta Rhymes released his sixth album: It Is not Safe No More. His first single, "Make It Clap" was moderately successful. The second single, a duet with Mariah Carey entitled "I Know What You Want" was a bit more successful, reaching the top 10 on the Billboard pop singles chart.
Busta Rhymes signed to Aftermath Entertainment label, with which he launched in 2006 the album The Big Bang:
